Change the World Part 2 - Mike's Photo and Thoughts Website

When I talk with people who are in their teens and twenties, the subject eventually travels to what is wrong with the world. It can encompass everything and every where from the middle east to China, from Africa to Europe to the United States and every other conceivable place around and in between.  The subjects vary from care of the poor to health care and about anything else that enters the discussants minds.

Rarely, however does the debate examine the imperfections of the people who are having these conversations. Instead, everything else as well as everyone else are to blame except them. If this were not so, most of these discussions would start where they should.

I don't know who was the first to say this but I have never forgotten this idea," If you want to change the world, first change yourself."

All that we say or do, are an example of our behavior to others. Whether it be our children, parents or friends, we constantly pour out a fountain of pieces and patterns of behavior that influences others around us for good or for bad. We have no idea if our behavior will be accepted or rejected or what their interpretations of what we do or say will be. Therefore we cannot tell how we will affect those around us. We can only get an idea from our past experiences.

If we try to change ourselves into the best we can become, at least we be setting an example of that which we are most proud of at that moment. Hopefully, this will influence others to do the same. Then in our own way, we really will start to change the world.
