The photographs that you are about to see were taken by astronomers and astronauts. They represent an enormous invest of money, time, education and labor.
These pictures have given us an understanding and appreciation of Astronomy that could not have been dreamed of only a few generations ago.
They have all appeared on the "Astronomy Picture of the Day" website over the past several years. I have my computer open to this site each time that I go on to the web.
You will notice the beautiful colors in the photos. These are false colors that are used to determine the chemical composition of the heavenly body that is being studied.
